How do I become one?

Do I need any qualifications?

No. You need good written and spoken English, an eye for detail, and to be honest.

A smartphone with WhatsApp and data. And yourself: your eyes, your appetite and your honest opinion.

How do I change or cancel a mission?

Cancel it in the app, then book the time you want, if it is still free. Cancel as soon as you know you can't go, so another diner can.

Should I book a table with the restaurant too?

Yes, it's a good idea. Just don't tell them you're a mystery diner.

What if the restaurant is closed or full when I arrive?

If you didn't book a table, you'll have to cancel the mission. If you did book and it's closed, take a photo of the closed door and send it to info@tipps.co.uk.

Can I go before or after my booked time?

No. The restaurant chose that time to hear about, so start within it.

Can I bring a friend?

Bring as many as you like. You are paid back up to the mission's cap, whoever eats. Some missions have a higher cap because they are meant for more than one.

What questions will I be asked?

Every mission is different. Usually short questions about the staff, the food and the place: some multiple choice, some in your own words.

What photos will I take?

It depends on the mission: the receipt, the food and drink, inside, outside. Usually two or three.

How do I get paid back?

Accepted Answer

Tell us what you spent, send a photo of the receipt if asked, and once your review is checked we pay you back by PayPal, up to the cap. It can take up to five working days.

What if I spend more or less than the cap?

Accepted Answer

You get back what you spent, up to the cap. Cap £10 and you spend £5: you get £5. Spend £30: you get £10.

Question 15

I forgot the receipt. Will I still be paid?

Accepted Answer

Most missions need one. A card receipt will do. Or ask the server for one, with an everyday reason like 'it's for my expenses'.

I haven't been paid. What do I do?

If it's been more than five working days since your mission, email info@tipps.co.uk and we'll look into it.

Question 17

My PayPal email is different to my Tipps email.

We pay the email you joined with. Change it in the app, under your account, to your PayPal email.

How many missions can I do?

Accepted Answer

As many as you like. Some restaurants limit how often one person can visit their sites.
